Brake Testing

Brake testing evaluates a vehicle’s braking system to ensure safety, performance, and compliance with regulations.

Brake Testing

What is Brake Testing?

Brake testing is a procedure conducted every 3 months to ensure that a vehicle’s braking systems are functioning at optimal performance.

This routine test is crucial for maintaining safety standards and preventing accidents that could pose a risk to the driver, passengers, and others on the road or site.

During the test, all braking systems are checked, including service brakes, emergency brakes, and parking brakes, to ensure they meet required safety thresholds.

Brake testing is not only a safety measure but is also necessary for compliance with the Mine Health & Safety Act, ensuring that vehicles operating in mining and industrial environments are safe and reliable.

Service Brake

Used for stopping and holding.

Secondary Brake

Used for stopping if the service brake fails.

Parking Brake

Used to hold a vehicle stationary.

Retarders

An emergency absorbing brake is normally used to control speed.
